Our department offered algebra I and ll, plain geometry, solid geometry, trigo- nometry, and general math. During the year the Mathematics Club had many speakers giv- ing interesting talks on how mathematics helped them in their fields. The Club planned several field trips - one to a nearby steel mill. The old, old adage, All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, still held for us. To know that we would be able to express ourselves later in life through the arts, as well as curricular knowledge, made us feel much happier about life in general. Physical education strengthened our bodies, music gi! gave us additional training vocally and instrument- ally, and industrial arts taught us to make things, design, paint and draw plans, speech arts gave us 6, confidence and pleasure through mastery of oral W thought expression.
