Use of language is the only method of communi- cation. This year at East Liverpool High School, thought expression played a very important role. With our new dial phones, if we knew the numbers, we could be speaking with our cross-the-sea neigh- bors within a few minutes. In French, Spanish and Latin classes students learned not only to translate but also to acquire a vocabulary that per- mitted them to speak the language fluently. Many of the students participated in the Christmas Lan- guage Assembly: The Latin students wrote and produced a Roman Dragnet French students sang carols in French and told of native customs. The original Christmas custom, the celebration of the pinata, was portrayed by the Spanish students. It our coming citizens in schools all over the United States would study the different languages when given the privilege, they would be able to understand our world neighbors better, With the age of atomic powered vehicles almost here, tor- eign countries soon will not be foreign. In this age of radio, television, movies, newspap- ers, magazines, billboards, endless pamphlets, etc., the young people had to learn to recognize what was essential to their homes and community, E. L. H. S, students learned the skills not only of 1 .' 4 M-Qu ii , g tg A-N r' M ji ' ff 5 M X speaking and writing but also of listening, inter- . preting, analyzing, and evaluating. , ity -1, Miss Hilda Werner - Subjects: Algebra I, French l, an Activities: Sponsor of French Club, Radio Committee.
