Seniors receive Miss Stickle's help in prepar- DEDICATION . LEYDEN TODAY can boast of many features - a progressive school board and administration, a distinguished faculty, and a vibrant student body. With the cooperation of each of these groups, Leyden has grown, progressed, and functioned smoothly for almost three decades. For the past I2 years, each of these groups has benefited from the services of a remarkable personage, Miss Ruth Stickle. In coniunction with the board and administra- tion, Miss Stickle has seen the construction of a new addition, as well as the planning of an entirely new high school, both built to accomodate a growing community. At the same time, as chairman of the English department for the past I2 years, she has supervised the efficient opera- tion of her staff, utilizing the talents of each individual for the profit of the whole organization. Students usually meet Miss Stickle in their senior year through a college preparatory English course. Those who have known her can well attest to her ability as a teacher. Faced with her ardent enthusiasm, the student finds his interest growing. Then, under her expert guidance, he soon en- deavors to develop his abilities to the utmost. Because she is more than iust a teacher, more than iust a friend, because she has devoted her life to us and given so freely of her time and patience, we dedicate the 1958 EAGLE to Miss Ruth Stickle. As chairman of the English department, Miss Stickle supervises operation. Consulting the administration, Miss Stickle coordinates her department with school policy. Page 17
