Grace Smith Miss Grace Smith was born and brought up in Saline, Washtenaw County. Here she attended the public school and graduated from the High School. The next year she entered the Ypsilanti Normal School. After graduating from the Normal she taught three years in the Man- chester High School. She next took a course at the University of Michigan, completing it in 1897. Last year she accepted a position as teacher of English and History in the Caro High School, but gave it up at the end of her first year in order to accept a position as teacher of the same studies in the Lansing High School.

Vernon I. Willey Vernon J. Willey was born and brought up on a farm near Pewamo. Ionia County. He attended district school until fifteen years of age, when he entered the Pewamo High School, continuing there until 1887, and finishing his High School work one year later at the Portland High School. After teaching one year in a district school he entered the Michigan Agricultural College in September, 1889, and taught a winter term of district school each year of his college course. After his graduation in 1893, Mr. Willey was appointed Principal of the Michigan School for the Blind, where he remained as teacher of Science and Mathematics until he began his work as science teacher in the Lansing High School in November, 1898.

Guy D. Smith Guy D. Smith was born on a farm one mile south of Mason. He attended a district school until eleven years of age, when he entered the Mason city school, from which he graduated at the age of seventeen. The next three years of his life were spent teaching school winters and working on his father's farm summers. In 1804 he entered Kalamazoo College and, working his way through college by tutoring and various other kinds of work, was graduated in 1898 with a degree of A. B. Mr. Smith was quite prominent in college, being a member of the college ball team for four years and of the foot ball team for three years, besides being President of his class two consecutive terms, pres- ident of Sherwood Rhetorical Society and president of the college Y. M. C. A. for two years. After graduating Mr. Smith accepted a position in our school, where he has charge of the ninth grade assembly room.
