CLASS POEM The school bell rang out loudly and We anxiously answered its call, For we were the bashful freshmen, The most excited of them all. We now had our start in high school, And our sophomore year rolled around. We ordered those wool, school jackets- The best then allowed in our town. By now we're no longer bashful, Bur foolish as suggested by some. We had a successful food sale Which gave the treasury a sum. juniors! We found we were busyg We started the year with our rings. We had another big food sale- And a thousand and one other things. We learned we needed money badly- And had to think of ways to win. We discovered we could sell play ticketsg To succeed we would have to dig in. As seniors the tide was deeper, And there was much more work to be done We helped to compile the yearbook. Quite a task, but it proved to be fun. We joined in the play, Somethin's Cookm Each took his part, large or small, To help make money for our senior trip, A wonderful experience for us all. To our teachers we are greatly indebted For their aid in our education, And helping us to attain a goal, As this, our graduation. -E. After getting our class officers and Student Council members settled we had a big Christmas party. Our food sale, even for our first year, was a big success. Our sophomore year found us not quite so green. We picked our class colors-royal blue and yellow-and proudly Wore our class jackets. We had another successful food sale and a fine dance after one of the home basketball games. This year, as juniors we feel as if we have conquered some big obstacles. We received our class rings and pins which we feel real- ly makes us members of East Lampeter High School. Another dance and food sale was also on our schedule. We sold potato chips which helped us prepare for the junior-senior ban- quet, a big step forward to our senior year. We, as juniors, wish a happy future to all the seniors and hope they reach every goal they set out to win. CLASS OFFICERS: Trearurer, Mary Lou Shirk President, Richard Weaver Secrelary, Christine Eshelman Vice President, Jay Dussinger CLASS ADVISORS Mr. Brown Miss Mellinger SOPll0MORES f Y. as As timid freshmen we entered the halls of East Lam- peter High School in the fall of 1954 a little dubious, but nevertheless eager to get started. In this, our first year, we had a food sale and sponsored a dance after one of the bas- ketball games. We were quite interested in the magazine campaign and by the end of the year we felt pretty well es- tablished in high school life. The following September we again entered high school, this time as sophomores. The first thing We did was select our class colors-black and white-and order our jackets, pennants, and hats. Our first social event of the year was the hayride we had on a Friday night. Also, dur- ing the year we had a food sale and another dance after a basketball game. Although we'll miss the seniors in our remaining two years, we wish them all the luck and success in whatever they do in the future.
