After jumping out to a fast start by winning their first three games , the Warrior football team, composed in part by East players, stumbled and was defeated by Boyertown . This set the stage for a season filled with inconsistency, the high point of which came with a 16-6 win over arch- rival Great Valley, with the 34-12 drubbing at the hands of Owen J . Roberts ranking as the low point of the season . Despite inconsistency and injuries, the Warriors finished the season with a 6-5 record, which marked the ninth consecutive winning season posted by a Warrior football team Another notch was added to West Chester's long history of win- SOCCQI' ning seasons as the varsity soccer team battled its way into sec- ond place in the district finals, qualifying for state pIayoffs. They won the first game in the Eastern regional finals, but were beaten in the semi-final game, posting a 10-3-4 record . Mr. Payton's J.V's also had a winning season, with a 13-4 record . Many of this year's outstanding players are from East and will play for the Vikings next year. c L to R: Bob Rohrbeck, Jim Patterson, Jamie Thompson, Marc Marini, Rich Balmer, Greg Gregus, Mark Rice. Cross-country is a very exciting sport. It consists of long distance running over tracks of 2 .5 and 2 .8 miles long. Dif- - ferent kinds of terrain and the long dis- tances make cross-country running a tough y ns Fil sport. Runners need great stamina and en- durance . The cross-country team for East y 6 at is coached by Mr. Dyke. 1 ' S 4 Q' 'VT'
