Investing i Business education students have a good background for the jobs which many of them will enter after graduating from high school. Business courses such as typing, office prac- tice, shorthand, business law, business math and bookkeeping offer Eastonians prepara- tion for future occupations in offices and daily I1 Office practice offers training in the fundamentals of an office job as well as experience on the different office machines. It teaches students to handle money and keep books for school organizations. the Future living. During the year 38 seniors took a co-op plan which made it possible to Work part time and go to school part time. Students had their choice of office, sales or nurse aide co-op. Upper Left: Approximately 3ll students en- rolled in bookkeeping this year. In this course they get the know-how for keeping personal records as well as for business accounting. Lower Left: Students who take typing find it important for their own use as well as for later use in office jobs. Lower Right: Girls in shorthand class read dictation that they will transcribe later for acquiring sl-:ills of speed and accuracy.

Iohn Donnell. East alumnus, was the featured speaker at the auditorium hon- oring Orange and Black graduates. The tea took place in the little theater with seniors and alumni as guests. Pre' siding at the tea table were Diane Rice and Miriam Maillie. Champions Welcome Homecomers The theme Champions welcomed the success. To climax the day, the Trojan alumni at Homecoming. The publicity and gridsters came through with a victory over promotions, social and homecoming com- Mason City. mittees collaborated to make this event a Lower Left: Welcome Alumni was the banner which invited the homecorners back to East High. Lower Right: PePPY cheerleaders, orange girls and Trojan heads formed the decorations which conveyed the theme Champions . '

Craftsmen Practice Industrial Skills Vocational shops are offered to boys who are interested in gaining background and experience as mechanics, printers, car- penters or draftsmen. In one of the most complete shops in Iowa, many of the 59 boys are Working toward the Trade and Industry Co-op in which 30 are now en- rolled. There are also 115 boys taking draft- ing throughout the day. The Trade and Industry Co-op is the plan in which the boys work in the Waterloo shops and in- dustries under school supervision durina a half day. J. Eldridge is locating support as he works at the drafting board. This is one of the fundamentals of drafting with which every future draftsman deals. A table for grade school is just one of the many products being turned out from woodshop. B. Ander- son. I. Padqet and E. Happel all lend a hand to its construction. T. Will is mastering the skills of running the Universal Mill machine. Students in the machine shop become adept at operating many machines. D. Franke and N. DeBerg set type for the second semester Daily Program as one of their assignments in vocational printing.
