As transportation expanded, the town became a railroad division point, providing additional employment. School Work a century ago centered mainly around the three Pt's. As more students re- mained in school the educational program ex- panded to meet their varied needs. At East a wide selection of classes and activities gives students a chance to explore their abilities and develop latent talents.

Council Establishes Governing Policies The first and third Monday mornings ot each month find our student council engrossed in considering the Welfare and activities of the East High community. Once cr month they devote a two-hour session to important cur- rent issues. To these meetings the represen- tatives carry the opinions of the students in each homeroom. Following the meetings they report business and discuss the session with their homerooms. Under the capable leadership of President Frank Bloomquist the council had a success- STUDENT COUNCIL ful year. Two ot the more important projects were deciding to adopt the Foreign Exchange Student Plan, which will go into effect next year, and carrying on a campaign to em- phasize scholarship. Cooperating in promot- ing the scholarship program were the citizen- ship committee and the art department.
