MDO unto others as you would have them do unto you is em- phasized as students engage in various activities designed spe- cifically for the benefit of others. By doing so, they develop the ability to co- operate with others toward a con- structive common cause. They also train stu- dents in business essentials that they will use in everyday life. UPPER: Typing is an elective course where stu- dents can learn accuracy and speed for their own personal use or for later use in office jobs. Typing on the new typewriters initiated the first semester, this beginners, class types letter forms from their workbooks. UPPER CENTER: B. Pritchard dittos some business forms as V. Scobee busily looks over some work at her desk. East High has a large part-time secretarial co-op program in which both girls and boys participate. LOWER CENTER: As a part of the bookkeeping course each year, the students spend two weeks on the Dean sets. These sets give students ex- perience in going through the accountanfs process of bookkeeping. LOVVER LEFT: Office practice offers many opportunities for learning the fundamentals of an office job. The classes are conducted in the business office, where the students learn to run adding and duplicating machines, keep activity fund books and handle money that goes through an ofice. They give boys a chance to explore the trades. The classes train the boys in trades by giving them actual practice. The trade and industrial co-op classes provide a chance for the boys to experience 'the trades.
