The Hl-C Club is an interdenominationol high school group, sponsored by Youth tor Christ. The pur- pose of this club is to further the Christi-an education of the students ot East High and to provide tel- lowship and a good time for members. Several local ministers, youth directors, and businessmen were guest speakers at the club meetings held each Thursday atter school. HI-C entered a booth in the Girls'Club Carnivalythis year. They were quite successful in selling Ros- ettes. f. . One of the outstanding activities of the year was.the three clay holiday jamboree held in Tacoma at the College of Puget Sound during the Christmas vacation. The East High quiz team, consisting of Bob Bergquist, Lewis Busby, Dale Helland, Diane Francoeur, and Shirley Raikko, won the state cham- pionship at this iamboree. L Vice-President, Lin- nea Linden, Treas- urer, Joy Schmauch Secretary and Chap lain, Shirley Raikko The highlight of the year was the Northwest 'Regional Finals in the Youth for Christ talent and quiz- zing contest held in May in Portland, Oregon. The 'winners here will compete this summer at Winnona Lake, Indiana for national honors and-from here go tothe international competition held in Europe. To do this they emphasize the importance ot worthy home member- ship. F.l-l.A. activities tor l958-l959 were quite varied. ln September they had an installation ot officers. During the months following they had an apple press party, attended Regional day, and had a Wheel ot Fortune at the carnival. In December they had a Christmas party. Spring activities included participation in a leadership conference, Demonstra- tion Day, and attending the state meeting in Seattle. During the year they contributed to the F.l-l.A. leadership and scholarship funds and also sent a Christmas CARE package.
