' Www ' The East High National Honor Society, under the skillful guidance ot Mr. Jones, enjoyed a very active program during 1958 and 1959. The club began by electing otticers and planning the year's program. The meetings were highlighted by speakers on mental health and student related topics. The purpose of the East High National Honor So- ciety is to encourage good scholarship among the students and to give recognition to those students who have achieved high scholastic standards. This year, for the hrst time, Sophomores were admitted on a probationary basis. The National Honor Society visited several colleges in this area during the school year and a field trip was planned for the spring. The Junior Red Cross of East High School, led by President, Donna Paschal, Vice President, Ron Mackey, Secretary, Delores Kneece, and Treasurer, Jo-Anne Chopp, has had a very active and successful program throughout the year. The Junior Red Cross aims to express the Declaration of Principles, for which the organization is formed. Based on both local and international causes, the club is directed by the American National Red Cross. Meier. evidence Every year an annual enrollment drive is held in September. Early in the year work parties helped supply and pack gift boxes which were sent 'to thousands of children around the world to meet their needs, but most ot all to till their hearts with happiness. As a Christ- mas proiect the members cut down and decorated trees for the Hor- ton Nursing Home in Bremerton.
