Pep Club Urges EHS Scarlets To School spirit is an important part of East High School. One very large group at EHS is the Pep Club. The Pep Club is an organized group that not only joins together to urge the mighty Scarlets to a victory, but they symbolize the pride of all East High students. Their yells and cheers repre- sent the traditional East High Spirit that is part of the school ' s heritage. This group is known as the Scarlet Singers, who reflect a new age with new ideas. Mr. Carnes, the adviser, and his Scar- let Singers reach out for unusual music approaches, then attempt to relate them to East High. Along with the addition of the Scarlet Singers, EHS still has its traditional Marching Band. The band marched along with the Steppers during the football season and played in the gym for assem- blies and basketball games. Quill Tells It Like It Was ' RONALD BECHTEL Co-Editor Under the leadership of Co-Editors Ron Bechtel and Kathy Lettington, and Managing Editor Paula Fuchs, this year ' s staff of 26 students have undergone many hours of hard planning in order to provide us with the yearbook. The yearbook is divided into six sections, with a certain number of pages assigned to each staff member . Their job is to layout the pages, crop pictures, and finally to write all copy for pages assigned to them. Special mention should be given to photographers: Rick Allison (chief photographer), Ed Green, and Dave Klinefeldt; editorial and photography adviser, Mr. Christian; advertising and photography adviser, Mr. Lethcoe ; and business adviser, Mrs. Hemer.
