East Zooms to Victory Bad weather and colds seemed to be some of our obstacles. Yes, the culprit was Studley Do-Bad, who tried his utmost to destroy the East High Spirit; but by the end of football season we had driven him to the D.T. ' s (delirium tremens), because of the boundless spirit dis- played. No wonder all had such pride, for the fighting Scarlet won the city championship with a 3-1-0 record. East also placed second in the Big Six Conference with a 3-1-0 record. Seniors honored on the All-State and Big Six teams were Dennis Leuthauser and Tom Sassatelli. All-City team honors went to John Jewett, Dennis Leuthauser, Robbie Reynolds, and Tom Sassatelli. The year 1966 also marked the entrance of the Mighty Scarlet, East ' s new mascot. This started a tradition that will continue to increase school pride in years to come. Senior Dale Baedke was East ' s first Mighty Scarlet.
