(Top Right) Cleaning a typewriter, with assistance from Mr. Wanek, is Neta McBroom. (Center Right) In homemaking class Linda Schoen is taught how to use a sewing machine. (Right) Caught in a moment of achievement is Lonnie Thurman, who is selling an ad for the Quill. Different businesses finance ads to furnish the cost of the Ouill. Commercial law teaches the student the importance of rules and regula- tions made up by authorities with the intent of enforcing justice and keeping peace. The basic concepts of law and the awareness of rights and respon- sibilities granted the citizen are taught in law class. Learning to fasten stitches with a sewing machine is one of the many skills learned in homemaking class. This and many other techniques are taught to prepare a girl for running a well-organized household of her own. Typing class is a necessity to future college students, as well as those who intend to use typing in a vocation. Work Is ir Main Concern — 14 —

Although relatively new, the language lab has proved to be a very essential part of modern education.

Miss Lundberg, Miss Skarshaug, and students apply their skills in painting and drawing scenery for the fall and spring plays, and for the Synchronettes ' show. The art department has tried something quite different this year. They are weaving rugs in an unusual design pattern. Student Artists Exhibit Talents — 15—
