Miss Brewer Mrs. Erickson lf you would look through the school books of early education you would find that many of the subjects taught now are quite different from those of the past, with the exception of a few, one of which is language. Language is a very important sub- ject, it not only helps the students in English but permits communication with people of other tongues. French is taught by Mrs. Hutchison, who teaches the first year, and by Miss Brewer, who teaches the second and third years. Spanish is another language which is taught at East High. This is taught by Miss Krueger. Latin is considered a basic language although it is no longer spoken. lt is taught by Mrs. Erickson. ln these courses the students learn to speak, read, and write the lan- guages and also learn many words used in the English language. Laiigiiage Deparlnieiil Fluency is empha- sized in any spoken language, such as French. Here Miss Brewer and her class are conversing for perfection. Mrs Hutchison f ,- Av i swf W' Miss Krueger Latin is a difficult language to speak but John Berggrens recitation is enjoyed by Mrs. Erickson and her class. ga-..
