DEDICA TIGN This year the Minaret staff is proud and honored to dedicate the yearbook to a man who has long since earned and deserved the honor we are be stowing upon him. For thirty-four years, Mr. Bracken has taught, inspired, and influenced countless numbers of East High students in their quest for learning. His vast knowledge and exceptional speaking ability have enabled him to teach his subject effectively. His fine personal qualities have inspired and influenced all who have had the privelege of knowing him. The students have deeply appreciated his work through the years in the Voice of Democracy contests and have looked for- ward to the Detroit trip which he organizes and directs annually. East is indeed fortunate in having a man of his ability, integrity, and dedication on its faculty. The Class of June l96l, salutes Mr. Bracken, and wishes him many more wonderful years at East High.

ADMINISTRATION A genuine interest in the welfare of every student, an unceasing effort to make East the finest school in the city--these are but two of the qualities that place Mr. Sabgir, our prin- cipal, and Mr. Krino, our assistant principal, in the uppe r ranks of administrators in the Akron Public Schools. Mr. Sabgir is completing his fourth year at East this June, having previously served as principal at Grace Elementary and Jennings Junior High. His educational background in- cludes a Bachelor of Science degree earned at Akron University and a Master of Educa- tion from Kent State University. In addition to his many responsibilities as principal, Mr. Sabgir has also been serv- ing on impo rtant committees of the Akron Public Schools. His service on these com- mittees has, in turn, greatly benefited East. He is a me mbe r of the Ad Hoc Committee , an advisory board to the superintendant, the P r o fe s sional Problems Committee, the Committee for School and Community Rela- tions, and the Advi s o ry Committee for the Administrative Council. Mr. Krino has long been affiliated with East High as teacher, as coach, and as ad- ministrator. His dedicated efforts at obtain- ing scholarships for seniors have been espe- cially appreciated by senior classes both past and present. Mr. Krino was chosen Coach of the Year in l95l and was one of the founders of the East High Hall of Fame. He served as Pre sident of the Touchdown Club for two years, he is now a member of the Executive Committee of that organization. Mr. Krino is also a member of the Assistant Principals' Salary Committee, the Phi Delta Kappa EX- ecutive Committee , and the Northeastern Ohio District Board of Athletics. He earned both his B ache lo r of Science and Master of Education from the University of Akron. East High is proud to have as its leaders two such able and dedicated men. 20 MR. HARRY SA BGIR MR.
