Longfield directs the band. Along with the annual Candy Sale, a Summer Work Program was organized to help raise funds for the Symphonic Band. Students worked at odd jobs around the city, saving this money for a trip they were going to take to Austria but decided against because they could not raise a representative group. Marching Band attended the dedication of the London Bridge, which was an honor as only high-quality groups in three states were invited. The band also took part in the Winter Concert, Winter of '72- A Symposium of Sound, along with the chorus.
