l DEDICATION We, the class of 1959, dedicate our Janus to Edward Robins Smith, graduate of Ohio Northern University. Ed served as head of the commercial department for almost thirty years, and prior to his retirement, was East's only golf coach. E. R. , as he is affectionately called, taught at Lincoln Junior High before coming to East in 1926, when the school opened. ln the past years, he always offered a helping hand in school activities and gladly gave his wise words of advice when asked. In 1952, Coach Smith and his team traveled to Colum- bus and won the first state championship for East in any sport. With respect and admiration, we, the seniors of East High extend to E. R.
