It was estab- lished to promote school spirit and friendly relations be- tween students and teachers It also has brought many things to East that have benefited the school since it first started. This year the first semester student council under the leadership of Don Pellow, with Dixie Stover, first vice- presidentg and Violetta Boneff, second vice-president, along with the assisting officers completed I1 very successful term. They sponsored an outstanding Homecoming dance with the theme Stairway to Heaven. Members of the student council and pep club worked all day Saturday be- fore the game to decorate the gym, field, and bleachers. Bracelets were bought for the Homecoming Queen and her attendants. An eighth grade mixer was held and a class king and queen Jana johnson and john Mack were crowned. The annual awards assembly was sponsored by the student coun- cil and for the first time they adopted a needy family at Christmas. The student body brought toys, food and clothes.
