This year the group was headed by Mrs. Glen Rapp, president. Under her capable leadership, these ladies spent many hours planning a commencement party, the annual Fairyland pic- nic day, and sponsoring the Bears' Den, As in the past, the P.T.A. again participated in the Mutual Help drive, making and collecting clothing for the under-privileged. The most important activity this year was the Founders' Day program. The occasion is ser aside for honoring of all past presidents of East's P.T.A. It was held on February 28 at the school. All in all, these parents and teachers have devoted several hours and much labor to bettering the wel- fare of the school and the community. Hold that Iine! cry the cafeteria proctors in their chores with ,keeping the lunch lines orderly. With no complaints, the custodians see to it that the school is kept clean and neat. From long before the early morning rush begins until long after everyone else has gone home, they sweep halls, clean windows, and dust desks. They are well liked and respected by students and faculty as Well for their friendliness and for their pride in keeping the school in excellent condition, Early each morning, the cafeteria ladies start preparing the food that will carry the students through their busy day. Long before the lunch hours begin, the delicious smell of food fills the upper floor halls. No one can guess how they know the amount of food that can be consumed by a school full of teenagers. They not only serve hot lunches, but also sandwiches, salads, soups, and sell potato chips and ice cream. To the delight of the student body, they prepared turkey before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
