Besides the regular meeting, the ladies entered a float in the homecoming parade, sold refresh- ments at the homecoming dance and game, and also chaperoned teen town at Minute Circle Friendly House. But work was not the only thing on their agenda. At the spring and fall potlucks both parent and teacher met in a friendly and in- formal atmosphere to hetter their relationship and understanding. Urging the class of 1927 to attend the Founders Day program February 21, the P.-T. A. hon- ored: the first and present senior classesg Mr. Nowlin, East's first principalg past presidents of P.-T. A. Outstanding citizens of the com- munity presented keys of success to the '56 senior class. All this combined made the Founders Day program the highlight of the P.-T. A. year. These were the words yelled from the beginning of the football season until the close of the track meet. The cheerleaders were at every game promoting school spirit and enthusiasm This year the cheerleaders were uniformed in black culottes and white sweaters with the green and white emblem, also black and white beanies. Adding color to E-A-S-T, chant East High's cheerleaders uf Southeast nmnn, .lonnn nurrus Nm... the uniforms were the attractive megaphones and green and white shakers. Our cheerleaders and their sponsor, Mrs. LaVelle Hal- bert, attended a cheerleading clinic at jefferson City, Mo.
