Beautiful, beloved of the nation, the Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island. In one hand is held the Torch of Liberty, light of a democratic nation. This unequalled statue stands for the strength and courage that is so much a part of America. East High reflects this spirit of freedom and independence. There is the same essence of democracy present in its program of education-the privilege to gain know- ledge to develop a more responsible, educated ditizenry. The Statue of Liberty, Golden Door to a brilliant nation, is the symbol of promise that is abundant for the American people. East takes pride in ITS heritage, the Golden Door. Our school is a channel of learn- ing through which youth of our community progress: at the end of their journey, they pass through East's Golden Doors into a world of Opportunity. To increase the educational growth of our students, a beautiful new addition to East High has been built. With it, ever-broadening knowledge and deeper understandings can be gained, and more achievements can be possible. Because of these improved conditions, how great is the probability for a more stabil- ized future! East High instills in its students the desire to play the role of the well- informed American. Yes, our school IS that very Torch so dramatically displayed in a hand of the Statue of Liberty, the EIZY to the G n Door o future, eternal spirit of democracyl P s 'I D ff ,X V XQ Q, rev' KTJ MM .
