Out of our beliefs are born deeds, Out of our deeds we form habits, Out of our habits grow our character, I know the author of this saying only as Dean Hanesch but the quotation contains a great deal of truth and I keep it on my desk. White R. Luronit The varsity season began hesitant- ly against Premontre with a O-O tie, two of our touch downs being called back. After this disappointment the team gathered confidence, perhaps, for Sheboygan North was trounced. At the hands of Appleton our as- surance was shaken and 6 fumbles contributed to our defeat. Then by obtaining two touchdowns in the first half we eeked out a vic- tory over Manitowoc. The Fond du lac victory was taken in stride. Then a blow halted our succession of victories when our offense failed to move against Sheboygan Central- West High overpowered us lastly to give us our 4-4 season. Coach Reed commented, The team seemed to reach great heights at times and at times didn't play the ball they were capable of. Page Fifty-seven EAST , PREMONTRE EAST SHEBOYGAN NORTH EAST . ' Basketball Due to the running and passing of Bill Lamberg and Jim Piaskowski, both sop- homores, the JV football team climaxed their season with a thrilling 7-O victory over tough West High opponents. The team, under Coach Perrique's direc- tion, won one game, lost three, and tied one. However the statistics in this case do not present the entire picture: Two of the three loses came in the last fifteen seconds of play. The line play of the JV's improved considerably as the season progressed commented Coach Perrique. Next year Bob Drzewieki, John Helf, and John Dart should help the Varsity in the center of the line, along with Fred Klug. The Var- sity tackle position's will be helped by Dick Lamberg and Gordon Lenz if they continue to improve. Although he ended up at end, Dick Kratz should give the varsity some of the defensive they are looking for. Page Sixty-o e East High J.V.'s ended their 1957-58 basketball season with a 47-23 lost to Apple J.V.'s and finished with a 6-I2 win-lost record. Tom White led the J.V.'s in scoring during the season with a total of 65 field goals and 45 free throws for l75 points. Bill Lamberg was second highest scorer with 55 field goals and 32 free throws for T42 points. The J.V.'s as a team made l7 field goals and lol free throws in running up a total of 595 points compared to the opposition's 682 points. Although we lost more games than we won this year, stated Lyle Nahley, JV Basketball coach, I feel the season was a successful one. Most of the boys im- proved considerably during the year and will be ready to meet the challenge of varsity-style ball next year. 1 ,Q 1 nl! 3 waz r W mnfifif' ww .wfiwwff w: F .:-Leif' +A' ' Q i .4 5' 1 all 31553: Y' 'fiw so 555 BASKETBALL MANAGERS ompscn, Hanfiing, Li HOME EAST A A A KIMBERLY A EAST A A A A A A SHEB. The story was the realizations about the duties and respon- sibilities experienced by three soldiers who had fought and died in war. Bill Murphy, Dick Gist, and Don Bangert portrayed the three sold- iers. When the steel blue light faded to red, as the sun came up, and the Chorus sang, This ls My Country the audience was deeply moved. The production was written by Ken Hoover, a senior and president ot Masque and Gavel. This production was also presented on television February 24 at 6:00 P.M. on station WFRV along with an interview of Ken Hoover and Mrs. Lison, speech teacher. 1.4 ASSENBLI ES wel S . Jane Wandrey, in the lead as Cas- sandra Blair, gave a sterling perform- ance, as did Mary Kay Luedeman and Bill Murphy in their character portray- als of Susan Blair and Captain Norman Carlson. The play takes place in the Autumn on an Air Force Base. Cassandra has been receiving messages from outer space which told her that Dr. Brant is involved in a scheme to conquer the world. The Martians land in a dra- matic display of blue lights, and are killed through a mix-up in some secret flash bulbs by Dino Pinelli, played by Richard Voight. The doctor is exposed and all ends well. 'oe' 5 3 r l A Cappella Back Row-N. Jorgenson, W. Bogart, T. Vieaux, P. Bartelt, J. Young, R. Rice, D. Van Ark, J, Besaw, Row Two-J. Plog, R. Bartlett, R.
