CURRENT Principal FROM THE PRlNClPAL'S DESK A school is usually iudged by its student body its curriculum its faculty and its publications more than by its physical plant and equipment East High School is more than a stone building with its many classrooms laboratories and shops It is more than tts present student body faculty and maintenance staff The process of developing our school has gone on for more than half a century and will continue as long as the school exists Every student and every teacher who has been a mem ber of our school since its first graduation in 1875 has benefited by its influence Our philosophy of education is based on the assumption that experience is the encourage student interest and enthusiasm in the maximum of participation School activities outside the classroom provide opportunities for experience in leadership responsibility and democratic living Included is a varied program of athletics speech dramatics music newspaper and club work Now we are proud to add to this list the publication of a yearbook I want to congratulate the annual staff for having worked so persistently to add this new feature to our school The yearbook should enlarge and strengthen our schools influence now and in future years I want to commend the student body on its willingness to support and finance the annual without calling for help from business or professional men in our city I am sure that this new activity will make an important contribution to the steady improvement and growth of East High School S M Current Q ,NM X , ii best teachert The big task of our school is to provide meaningful activities and to
