Morrison. 1 Our junior high newspaper, has reached the end of its twenty-ninth year in reporting the junior high happenings. The staff, composed of ninth grade stu- dents, has gained much valuable experience in iourn- alism and has worked hard to make this year one of the best years ever. In the fall, the editor, Robert Schneider, and the co-editor, Diane Pederson, attended the annual kick- off luncheon at Nopeming Sanitarium, this event was a press convention held prior to the T. B. drive. A special issue at Christmas time was the highlight of the eight successful issues published by this press group under the leadership of Mrs. Peterson. To raise funds for the Birch Bark, two dances were given by the staff. The Hrst was in October and the second in April. 24

The Ship's Musicians . . . By the East High School Bond under the direction ot Mr. Robert Vickers. These vvords are tamilicir to all of us here out East. During the tootboll season, the band not only provided background music tor the maiorettes and cheerleaders, but enter- toined the student body with oi variety ot unusual halftime music. Our band odds much color and en- thusioism to our football games, vvhether at the Public Schools Stadium or Ordedn Field. The Pep Bond, composed of members ot the Senior Bond, furnished music for home basketball games and pep assemblies. For regular and tournoi- ment games out the U.lVl.D. Athletic Building, the tull bond vvcis used. During tournament time the bond often become' ci cheering section os Well os pro- viding the music. Several Soturdoiys found the bcind on the long march trom Leit Erickson Pcirk to Sixth Avenue West. . These porcides included Memorial dciy, The Duluth Dukes, cmd the Fdll Festival Parade.
