Presenting a large variety of num- bers, from sacred music to novelty songs, the choir made appearances at a great many organi- zations throughout the city as well as at East. During the Christmas season the choir pre- sented the background music for the East Christ- mas Assembly and also presented several Christ- mas selections. They sang at the annual after- noon Christmas program at the First Methodist Church and also at Endion Methodist Church. At the carnival given by the P.T.A. in De- cember, members ot the chair presented a very successful skit taken from the stage production, Oklahoma. Performances ot this skit were also given at various schools, clubs, and or- ganizations. As the high point in the A'Cappella Choir's activities this year, the musical comedy Brigadoon was presented in March. This delightful musical set in the Scottish highlands was a huge success, and more than made up tor all the hard work involved in its production. To end the year the A'Cappella Choir sang at commencement and baccalaureate.

The seventh grade girls under the direction of Miss Johns learn the hows and whys of vocal singing along with learning to appreciate and recognize famous classical and semi-classical music. The eighth grade girls choir, also under the direction of Miss Johns, works along the same line as the seventh grade choir except, of course, a little more advanced. We can't forget the seventh and eighth boys choirs. Mr. Burrows guides the boys in learning how to read music and sing it well. The eighth grade boys sang at the junior high Student Council Convention here at East. You can distinguish the ninth grade mixed choir by their maroon choir robes. Linder the direction of Mr. Burrows and Miss Johns they have sung in assemblies t is ear. Thle Music Festival, church programs, radio programs are among the local activities in which these choirs participate. Among school activities are as- semblies, Christmas and Thanksgiving programs, and the school carnival. They have sung for P.T.A. meetings and caroled in the halls at Christmas time. We at East are all very proud of the many and fine accomplishments of these iunior high choirs. 30
