Mr. Goerz, Assistant Principal Many and varied are the duties administered by the office of assistant princi- pal. Attendance problems, the social activities program, the activities of the Junior High School Student Council, and directives from the main office are dis- charged daily through this office. Conferences with parents, students, and teach- ers to help the young people find solutions to their problems are valuable in making the school more functional, and in developing the desired relationship between all members of our school and community. Mr. Alaspa, our busy counselor, is providing Alan Slingo with scholarship information. Among Mr. Alaspa's many duties are conferences with all the graduating seniors, supervising and administering the school testing program, co-advisor to the student council in its many school activities, holding parental conferences, and assisting students with vocational and educational plans. He also coordinates the planning of the homeroom guidance programs as well as cooperates with homeroom teachers in solving the adjustment problems of stu- dents. During the past year, he has undertaken some research proiects in con- nection with the holding power of the school, drop-outs, and follow-up studies of East graduates. 9
