Before submitting tothe hard hitting tribe, the Mountaineer eleven, led by the whole line, and the backlield, led by Jerry Blinky Vaughan, put up a mighty good tight. East: I4 Morristown: 6 A Hurricane at Morristown was quelled by the hard running ot Dean Bad Boy Cox, who scored, the brain work ot Frank Hall, and the line play of Sam Oakes. Hall also scored on a pass from Mickey Ellen- burg, who kicked both extra points. East: 7 Fulton: 9 With most of the tirst string playing their last game tor Coach Chorley Moitett, the Mountaineers dulled the claws at the Falcons only to be turned away from possible victory again by a satety, Using trick plays, the team played one of its best games. A touch- down was scored by Frank Hall, receiving a pass from Dean Cox. Old reliable Mickey Ellenburg converted for the seventh point. Throughout the season the Mountaineers were sparked by the playing ot Sam Oakes, Dean Cox, and George Tampas, who were selected on the All-City TGGYTT. At the tootball banquet 24 players and managers, Carroll Ailshie and George Hill, received letters, and Bob Hunt and David Gosnell were elected coecaptains for next year, succeeding co-captains John Lund and Frank Hall.
