Scoring for the Mountaineers were Cox, twice, Weaver, on a pass tram Cox, Hall, taking a pass from Wolienbar- gar, and Mickey Ellenburg, kicking three out ot four extra points. The line play was terrific. East: O T Kingsport: T2 The lniuns were on the war path, and East hap- pened to amble on the scene. Before submitting tothe hard hitting tribe, the Mountaineer eleven, led by the whole line, and the backlield, led by Jerry Blinky Vaughan, put up a mighty good tight. East: I4 Morristown: 6 A Hurricane at Morristown was quelled by the hard running ot Dean Bad Boy Cox, who scored, the brain work ot Frank Hall, and the line play of Sam Oakes. Hall also scored on a pass from Mickey Ellen- burg, who kicked both extra points. East: 7 Fulton: 9 With most of the tirst string playing their last game tor Coach Chorley Moitett, the Mountaineers dulled the claws at the Falcons only to be turned away from possible victory again by a satety, Using trick plays, the team played one of its best games. A touch- down was scored by Frank Hall, receiving a pass from Dean Cox. Old reliable Mickey Ellenburg converted for the seventh point. Throughout the season the Mountaineers were sparked by the playing ot Sam Oakes, Dean Cox, and George Tampas, who were selected on the All-City TGGYTT. At the tootball banquet 24 players and managers, Carroll Ailshie and George Hill, received letters, and Bob Hunt and David Gosnell were elected coecaptains for next year, succeeding co-captains John Lund and Frank Hall.

East: 6 Elizabethton: 6 Rising to the occasion like a great ball club, the Mountaineers tied a hard fighting Betsy eleven when Dean Bad Boy Cox passed to Charles Weaver in the first period. After Lizzie scored in the some time zone, the two teams fought on even terms the remainder of the ball game. Standouts tor East were Tampas, Hall, Gosnell, Lund, and Oakes. East: O Johnson City: i4 With Fred Hankins hurt, Bob Hunt took over the fullback post and gave promise of becoming quite a ball player Even though East was haunted by the old dame Bad Luck they still demonstrated a spirited ball game being led by Tampas Wright Gosnell and Oakes Ea 13 Oak Ridge 25 The Big Gray displaying the spread formation made famous last year made the Wildcats hght tront the word Go Scoring tor East were Charles Hide Out Weaver on a pass from Dean Bad Boy Cox Frank Hall receiving a pass from Eddie Woltenbarger and Mickey Ellenburg kicking one out of two extra points. Rivalry promises to grow in spirit between these schools during the coming years. East: O Young: 2 Bob Blackstack pitching, Phil Clapp catching, and Allen Setzer sliding into the end zone on top of John Lund for two points took the ball game. From a de- fensive point of view, it was a great battle, Starring for the Blue and Grey were David Pop Gosnell, Sam Iron Man Oakes, Ronny Powell, and John Lund. East: 27 West: O Mixing up passes and running plays from the spread formation, East with Dean Bad Boy Cox in the driver's seat showed the Rebels from the West their heels,
