Although not possessing a great deal of strength in standings, this year's cross country team was one of East's hardest working. Coached by Mr. Biffle, and consisting of Ron Lee, Tad Rickards, Avery Spottedcorn, David Foston, Ed Wright, Jerry Ward, and Massoud Parissay, the team's dedication and persever- ance Were displayed by its daily training. Several members ran five to ten miles per day to get in shape for track meets. 1

The municipal course players of East showed the golf world they were not to be easily beaten this year. With a lot of team spirit, no. l player Gerry Cassidy, along with Corky Knight, Eric Lombardi, Terry McCoy, Dennis Hubler, Gil Gallegos, Ed DeCroce, and Fred Taylor, had many victories, including an impressive third place in city competition. Gerry Cassidy and Corky Knight also Won the city cup. 19

Hart. mWKA L Many people don't realize that a Girls' Gymnastics Team really does exist! Spectator attendance was low this year and casualties high, but this didn't affect the morale of the team. As with all sports, practices were straining and very time consuming. In addition to the hard work, this year's Gymnas- tics Team had difficulty in finding equipment. Bravely facing scrutinizing judges, gymnasts know they have only themselves to rely upon. While we were apathetically Wrapped up in person- al concerns, these girls were working to effectively represent our school. They have hopes that in future years they will have more encouragement from the student body. 21
