AN APPRECIATION HE boys and girls of the Denver high schools have never had a greater champion to the cause of education than the retiring superintendent, Jesse H. Newlon. The com' munity at present can hardly appraise the farfreaching effect of the broad vision, the marked executive ability, the vigorous action, and the unflinching courage of this man who found the schools unworthy of our fair city and who leaves them the model of the nation. But we of East High School, the immediate beneficiaries of the expanded program of edu' cation, could find no more fitting time to express our appreciation for what Jesse H. Newlon has done for us. We are devoted to him, not only because he was instrumental in bringing to us the greater educational advantages of our beautiful building, but we admire him because of the high type of American citizenship which he represents. And so we wish to pay this tribute to a man who has made his record true, by the clearness of his thinking, by the generosity of his spirit, by the integrity of his motives, and by the courage of his convictions.
