The l.V. members were all newcomers to the game of Power Valleyball. However, with Mr. Morgan's coaching they had a good season ending with a six and four record, a great improvement from last year's scores. The girls owe their winning year to com- raderie, spirit, and many hours of hard work and practice. 'lfl.V. The East High chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes began as a seed planted in the minds of our athletes. With the encourage- ment of their sponsor, Coach Roy Carter, the seed of spirit grew to produce a multimem- bered club. On Friday mornings of each week, a congregation of students met in the home- room of Mr. John Jarvis. There, for devotions, each participant found sought-after inspira- tion. With Mike Pressley serving as president, J Barbara Walker as vice-president, Jen ny l Thompson as secretary, Joyce Staton as trea- J surer, and Richard Andrews as parliamen- tarian, F.C.A. held huddle groups where T thoughts and ideas were exchanged and then put to work. Athletes had a strong group supporting them this season-the Pep Club. Numbering fifteen vibrant and enthusiastic individuals, the Pep Club helped to arouse and encourage the school's spirit by assembling in a special section to cheer as a group at each game. Officers for this spirited season included: President- Gloria Waters, Vice-President-Joy Justus Secretary- Treasurer-Debbie Sosebee, and Reporter-Jerrie Gass. Clubs!25
