The East High chapter of Distributive Educa- tion Clubs of America launched its season by selling ads for the annual, the first time any other organization has taken over this task for the Highlander staff. Teams of DECA mem- bers worked together to sell over 54,000 worth of ads to local businesses. A spaghetti supper was held before the Homecoming game to raise funds for the coming year. Other ac- tivities for the club during the 1975-76 season involved taking food baskets to rest homes, parties and picnics for club members, and running the school store. Leading them in these activities were: President-Gwen jackson Vice-President-Darrel Williams, Secretary- Denise Levi, Treasurer-jill Dinkel, Parlia- mentarian-Steve Greene, Photographer-Cal- vin Sigmon, and Historian-Margie Steele. ff' 20!Clubs The 1975-76 season for the Future Business Leaders of America began early in October, when officers were elected and plans were made for the coming year. Outstanding stu- dents in FBLA tested their skills by participating in the District Skill Contest in Brevard. Visits to technical institutes, plants, and local busi- nesses gave the FBLA members a look at the way things are in the working world. The club raised funds by selling Eagle key chains and by taking part in the Christmas bazaar. EAST HIC-H'S INTEREST NCREASES IN THE THESPIA ART 1975 promised to be a year of first for the East High Drama Club. For the first time, the 7 s Drama Club had more than ninety members. T A J C C This year the club entered a float in the Apple Festival parade and was proud of plac- ing 3rd for the most original idea. Pennant sales and the Spring Production were projects for the Drama Club again this year. A myriad of activities included a bake sale in September, participation in Club Week, skits for the maga- zine sales assembly and a cook out at Mills River followed by a viewing of the Movie laws at the Carolina Theater. The officers of the Drama Club for the year 1975-76 were: President-Michael Capps, Vice- President-Phillippa Smith, Secretary-Sandy Stepp, Treasurer-Rita McConnell, and His- torian-Pam Clark.
