SONG
Music: Far Away Places
Farewell East Greenville,
To us you're so dear
To you we will always be true,
And tho' we must leave you to go on our way
Remember our hearts with you stay.
We'll go to the Southland,
Or maybe to Maine,
To East or to West we may roam
But East Greenville High School will ever remain
The place we shall always call home.
The dearest of memories
You'll hold for us all,
Of games we've played under your skies,
Of studies, of dances, and fun in the halls,
Of dreams and ideals we'll hold high.
So let us be thankful,
For all we have gained,
At East Greenville High School so fine,
We'll weather our future in sunshine or rain
We seniors of june '49.

CLASS HISTORY
Our class began with a group of scampering, young tots, way back in 1937. However, due to a short memory, we
will lose ourselves until 1945.
FRESHMAN
1945 was an important year for our class. We were now Freshman and well on our way to becoming seniors. Our
first class election showed Jane Fenstermacher as class president.
Of course, we were all anxious for our first class gathering, the customary Freshman Party. Ours was held on Decem-
ber 7 in the building of the local Teen-Age-Center.
It seemed our class was just getting acquainted when-bang! We left school for three months of summer vacation.
S O P H O M O R E S A
Upon returning to school we found we were now referred to as Sophomores. With the boost in our class spirit
after bearing that name, it seemed that the members of our class were growing up into young men and women.
This year Leroy Stevens, a young lad from Finland, Penna., was class president. Near the end of this year, an elec-
tion was held throughout the school for a vice-president of Student Council. Richard Wolf, a small but understanding
boy in our class, was elected to help lead the student government.
JUNIORS
Our junior year was of course the most important. The junior Play, entitled A Case of Springtime, proved quite
a success, and was very well accepted by the audience.
The junior Prom, held on january 31, 1948, was the first prom ever to be held in the now-completed gymnasium of
our new building. Music was furnished by Hal Haley and his orchestra. Everyone remarked that it was one of the
most wonderful dances they had ever attended.
The class elected Henry Lachman as president. This was the first of his two terms.
S E N I O R S
At last came the year we had been looking forward to for the last eleven years. We were now seniors.
In the early part of the year, the class showed its power of leadership in setting up a dismissal system that kept order
in the halls. For this deed, the seniors were given the privilege of seniority in the cafeteria and evening dismissals.
The Senior Play, And Came the Spring, given on December 2 and 3, was presented to a capacity audience and was
favorably received on both performances.
The Senior Prom held in the middle of May proved to be the most outstanding event in the history of the class
of '49.
Henry Lachman was re-elected as class president and Richard Wolf was advanced to President of Student Council.
Betty Grater was chosen as Editor-in-Chief of our yearbook. The Conifer of 1949 will always hold a priority spot
in the hearts and minds of those concerned.

THE GRIDIRON SEASON
The Yellowjackets have had a very successful season. They had a recordahreaking string of eight con-
secutive victories, and ended the season with nine victories against one defeat. This immortal team also
took the Montco League championship from Royersford. It was the first championship at E.G.H.S. since
1939. and also the last Montco League trophy, because next year, the team will be in the Inter-County
League.
Mr. Pritchard said the teanis line record was due mainly to the boys' experience. Most ol' the varsity
eleven are seniors and next year's team will be handicapped by the loss of these seasoned players.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL
The Greenie Sextet had indeed a very successful season this year. Capably coached by Mrs. Moser, they
won the championship of the Upper Montco League.
Contrary to previous years, most of the games were played after school. There were quite a few close
and exciting games. However, the most exciting game was that played with Pennsburg to determine the
championship. The score was tied at half, but the superiority of the Greenie team came forth to win by
a good margin.
Much skill and determination was displayed by the team in all games. The cooperation of the team mem-
bers was also a very commendable factor.
Although many of the team members will be lost by graduation, a spirited group promises to take their
places next year, Those who will be lost by graduation are as follows: Captain Betty Freed, Ruth Elaine
Freed, Shirley Reed, Mary Lou Zwoyer, Nancy Kern, and Doris Christman,
The regular members of the team were as follows: Betty Freed, Ruth Elaine Freed, Eleanor Rothenberger,
Mary Lou Zwoyer, Shirley Reed, and Helen F ircz. Substituing positions were held by Doris Christman,
Mary Jane Hillegass, Pat Layser, Jeanette Heimbach, Nancy Kern, Cleata Gilbert, and Loretta Schwenk.
The managers were Kitty Hendricks, and Judith Cashatt.

GLEE CLUB
The oldest and most successful organization of our high school is the Glee Club. Only those who qaulify
may be members. The group consists of forty voices from grades ten to twelve.
At 'Christmas the Glee Club gave a program of carols at Hess Brothers which was well received. The most
important activity of the Glee Club this year will be the spring operetta Tune Inn. The members are
working faithfully to help make this one of the best performances presented in our auditorium.
We sincerely appreciate the enthusiastic interest induced by Mr. Richard Immler, director, in making this
organization such a great success.
