PHILIP LUTHER ALBERT Quiet and reserved in manner, Phil has shown interest in music and given loyal support to the Mixed Chorus for the past two years. DORA BRADFORD APTED To see her is to love her. Dee's perky pony-tail and winning smile combine with an unaffected intelligence and friendly help- fulness to prove that good things do come in small packages. DRAKE HILLIARD ATKINSON Drake is an outstanding member of the speech department. He has a flair for de- bate, for which his broad background, his wide interests, and his sound reasoning give him a fine foundation. JEAN MORRILL ATTWOOD An extremely capable, hard working, and open-minded l.C.C. President, ,lean has con- tributed tirelessly to her class and school. All who know her admire and like her, for the gods gave her everything. KATHERINE AUMENT Katie is our class individualist! Many an organization has profited from her ingenuity and original ideas. Our Junior-Senior Re- ception was well-managed under her able hand. DUSAN ELWYN BACKUS Known to many as Billy Birch, Sue has cheered us all with her smile and gaiety. She finds fun in any situation and is always willing to participate in class projects. JAMES NEWCOMB BARTON Especially known for his achievements and ability in tennis, Jim maintains good sports- manship on the basketball court as well as on the tennis court. He was the capable business manager of this yearbook. LAROLYN JEAN BEACH Arriving in our Junior year, Carolyn became an active member of our class. She has shared her friendliness and thoughtfulness with us in Club '56 and Clee Club. ' RAYMOND DALE BERGER If Dale is in his faithful Chevy, we never have any trouble finding him, for his well- known duals always speak of his presence. His great interest in cars is backed by much work and know-how in the field of auto mechanics. MARILYN IRENE BERCMANQ Marilyn has backed her interest in the Bible Club, the band, and Future Nurses by faith- ful service. Known for her mild disposition, she always has something nice to say about everyone. 18

IRVING JAMES BISSELL Although lim is quiet and shy around school, we have heard that it's a different story when l1e's away! Tennis and sailing are his favorite sports. NANCY ANN BLOINK Nancy's thoughtfulness makes her a pleasure to be with and a good friend to have. She can be proud of a job well done in both the music department and the Senior l'lay. MARY EILPIN BONE With a smile for everyone, the musically talented, capable Mary lfllen immediately became an outstanding member of our class. She also has been active in the Future Nurses' Club. ROBERT EMMUNS BON FIELD The student council has relied on Bob to carry through many of its projects, and he has proved himself worthy of its confidence. He can always be depended upon to do more than his share. IERRANCE KELLING BOYLE Although Terry has been with us only a short time, we readily notice that he is a good scholar. He has that enviable trail of being able to get his lessons quickly and easilv. S'l'EI'H EN ROBERT BREN NER Steve, a willing worker, can be found apply- ing himself to any worthwhile cause, such as the Senior l'lay. His inquiring mind, his ambition, and his business-like manner will take him to the top. GRETCHEN AN N BURGIE Ask Gret to do it, has long been the cry of the class of '56, Her varied talents and abilities enable her to undertake success- fully any kind of class or school project, from dance decorations to class plays. DAVID Cl,lF'l'0N BYERS Ill Although Dave's quiet manner has concealed many of his attributes, his diligent work in science and math show where his interest lies. Quiet persistence and willingnss to lend MARGARILT JEAN LARLSOIN a helping hand characterize him. N ANCY LAYER CAR LB ERC Everything Nance does, she does well. She wins the respect of all who know her, for she is honest, hard-working, and reliable, and she will earnestly stand by her beliefs and ideals.
