They work hard preparing themselves lor high school. The seventh graders accustom themselves to homework hy writing' many themes. They have science lor the lirst time, which is a novel experience lor them: their spelling words grow longer: and his- tory takes on a new meaning. Arithmetic is called math. This makes them Ieel quite grown-up. For elective subjects, they choose art, civics, band, sing- ing, homemaking, or shop. The eighth graders have more homework than the seventh graders, however, they seem to take it in their stride. They study the same basic subjects, but their electives are vocations, reading improvement. current reading, homemaking, shop, health, hand, and singing.
