Student Council Through the fine leadership of Dick Campbell and the guiding light of Mr. liuschman, the Coun- cil did an excellent job of representing the student body. Bob Schermcr served as treasurer, and Katie Crillith as secretary. .Xt the beginning of school, the Council pub- lished a student handbook. The Pioneer, which acquainted the students with many school func- tions. The annual forum gave the students an opportunity to express their suggestions on school improvements. Through inter-school visitatiousq liast achieved a mutual understanding and friend- ship with surrounding schools. Finally, the new system ol' honor study halls gave impressive evidence of the co-operation that existed between the council and the student body. lN'I'ERCl.UB COUNCIL First Row: li. l'Hueeke, H. Snell, T. Burris, T. Burke, C. Inter-Club Council The Inter-Club Council is the governing body ol the school's club system. Every club in school may send a representative to this organization, although only those members representing clubs meeting on the NVednesday evening basis may have voting power. The purpose of the Inter-Club Council is to alleviate problems of the clubs and also to co- ordinate their activities and functions: this year, however, owing to the harmony among the clubs, the council was confronted with few problems. This spring the Council took part in the visitation program in which students from other schools came to East to see our many new school facilities and our governmental system in operation. J. kirchgi-.sntr Activity Committee Junior Senate 'llie activity committee is organized to regulate student activities and to make recommendations to the council concerning such activities. 'l'his year's committee chairman, -Indy Ver Meulen, ably carried out her campaign promises by changing each class's representation on the committee lrom one to two representatives, by promoting better assemblies, and by having, more paid assemblies. ln addition, -Indy with the help ol' the committee directed the ex- change assembly which was given at various schools in the city. For this vear, .Xnn NlcShane, the secretary ol' the committee. kept a calendar ol' dates lor all activities. Hr.
