The Student Council constitution w as amended by
a majority vote of the student body to expand its
membership and increase representation. ln addi-
tion to a minimum of four senior representatives. the
vice-president of the senior class. three junior repre-
sentatives, the vice-president of the junior class.
four sophomore representatives. and three freshmen
representatives. every organization chartered by the
school is allowed to elect one member.
The aim of the Student Council is to serie the
school and the community in all possible ways. This
year. the Council sponsored an impressive memorial
service before the Godwin football game for former
students who had died in service. Other activities
included taking charge of dancing in the gymnasium
at noon. securing a revised semester examination
schedule. collecting canned goods for the Starr Com-
monwealth and Christmas presents for the soldiers
at Percy Jones Hospital. sponsoring the annual stu-
dent mixer and other parties. arranging the program
for the swimming pool opening, giving the pep rally
before the Lee football game. organizing Theta Pi
Eta. planning assemblies for the war loan drives.
giving the annual Christmas assembly, operating the
bookstore before school and at noon. and supervis-
ing the parking lot. This spring. our Council sent
representatives to the Inter-High Student Council
meetings. and members visited all of the Grand
llapids and suburban high schools.

active organization. mainly hecause its function
covers such a variety of cluties and services. The
