Homecoming 1968 Queen Reigns Over Festivities TON! Gayle Warner, and Beverly Miller, illlrf' if CORONATION ceremonies for the 1968 Home- coming Queen Karen Hooper, highlighted the 18th an- nual Homecoming celebration Oct, 11. The student body's choice for queen vvas kept secret until half-time when Ed Griffor, Student Council president, Opened a sealed envelope and announced the vvinner. Procedure for choosing the Homecoming Queen was changed this year. Six senior nominees were the only ones eligible for the title of queen while the six under- graduates, nominated by their fellow classmates, served as members of the Royal Court. During half-time the East Detroit marching band presented a program entitled, The Doctor and l. Cheerleaders also provided an entertaining dance rendition of Up, Up and Away, with balloons. The festivities got off to a lively start with a pre- game bonfire on Thursday night and came to a happy ending with an after-game victory dance in the school gym, sponsored by the Student Council. Upperclassmen chosen as Homecoming Queen can- didates were: Elena Evona, Karen Hooper, Nancy Meyer, Dolly Sirhan, Dawn Tingwall, and Toni Vitale. 5 I' 1 .
