School of Music East Carolina University School of Music opened a new music major program, the Bachelor of Music with a major in Piano Pedagogy. Mr. Charles Stevens headed this new program designed to prepare students for a career as piano teachers and to help them reach a high level of advancement in their own performance. In addition to a B.M. degree in Piano Pedagogy, a B.M. degree in Music Thera- py was added. New courses were of- fered in ethnomusicology and electronic music. To aid the teachers of music, the department installed a new electronic-pi- ano set-up with a monitor system. This began an electronic music laboratory. Beach, Mr. Earl E.
