The Football team this year had a 1-8 record. Of the eight losses, five were lost by one touchdown or less. After the first loss at the hands of the powerful Tuscarawas Cowboys, the Hornets found the spark to battle Brewster all the way to the final quarter. At Navarre, All-County halfback Tracy Martin scored a tying touch- down as the gun went off. This was nullified by the officials in a very controversial decision. The Hornets romped to victory over the Alliance Reserves in their first home game, but lost to a very strong team from Sandy Valley. At the afternoon game against Lake, East Canton lost a 2 -0 verdict. Against heavily favored Springfield, East Canton lost 'in the second half as Springfield scored on a short pass. The last game of the season was with Goshen Local. The Homecoming game against the league leading Northwest Indians was probably the hardest played game. This year's team was paced in scoring by Tracy Martin with 36 points on 922 yards and Fred Masters who scored 18 points.
