CLASS HISTORY At last the day has come when we, the class of '51, are freshmen! We find, on our arrival at school this bright September morning, that 8A and 8B have been combined in the main Study Hall to make one big happy class of 9th graders. We see, to our pleasure, that Mrs. Ryder and Miss Gilcrist are our home room sponsors. Our first class meeting was for the purpose of electing our class officers. They are Bill Bosler, presidentg Bill Dana, vice president, Mary Kreitzer, secretaryg and Teresa Paumier, treasurer. The Christmas party, held in the high school auditorium was the main event this year. Our money raising project was collecting tax stamps. Class enrollment: Betty Adler, Bernard Ake, Ann Barnes, Dorothy Barnes, Glenn Bates, James Beck, Don Bennett, Bill Bosler, Ina Brunner, Patty Bryan, Dan Calendine, Rosalee Clapper, Mary Curren, Norma Dahlheimer, Bill Dana, Eileen Davis, Dan Decker, Delores Mae Dobransky, Dolores Rose Dobransky, Nancy Dougherty, Elsa Fornasiero, John Geyer, Dora Gooding, Troy Hannah, Betty Haubert, Marilyn Heakin, Fred Jacob, Frances Jones, Clayton Kehl, Mary Kreitzer, Betty Kryder, Herbert Linhart, Marilyn Mason, Bob McNichol, Edgar McNutt, J acquita McNutt, Delores Meyer, Dale Miller, Grace Moore, Nancy Muckley, Jack Newlin, Betty Ober- ster, Teresa Paumier, David Pribula, Donald Pribula, Ovidio Pugnale, Polly Reynolds, Joanne Robinson, Bob Rothacher, Doris Rusher, Betty Shepler, Richard Singhaus, Neal Smith, Richard Snively, Junior Snyder, Darrell Stinchcomb, John Stocker, Loretta Teis, George Vincent, Walter Vin- cent, Herbie Walters, Dale Wardle, Leroy Westfall, Ella Williams, and Genevieve Yoerns. Moving on to our Sophomore year, we find our- selves in 203 with Mrs. Moulton. To increase our treasury we collected tax stamps again and elected as our class officers: Bill Bosler, president, Bill Dana, vice-president, Mary Kreitzer, secretary, and Herbert Linhart, treasurer. We lost exactly 24 members in the 10th grade. They were: Bemard Ake, Norma Dahlheimer, Eileen Davis, Dan Decker, Nancy Dougherty, John Geyer, Dora Gooding, Troy Hannah, Edgar McNutt, Jacquita McNutt, Dolores Meyer, Nancy Muckley, Jack Newlin, Doris Rusher, Richard Singhaus, Neal Smith, Richard Snively, Loretta Teis, George Vincent, Walter Vincent, Herbie Walters, Ella Williams, and Genevieve Yoerns. It wasn't a total loss because Jean Bower from Canton, Dwain Knepper from Indiana, George Thiel from Carrollton, Delores Winkler from Tal- madge and Ray Douglas joined us. Under the careful guidance of Mr. Keeler, we start our Junior year. We know that it will be a hard and busy year. We raised money this year by having two magazine drives, selling refreslunents at home basketball games, selling candy in the l19l cafeteria at noontime, selling shirts, head scarfs, beanies, seats, etc. Our Junior class play, We Shook The Family Tree, was a great success. The Junior-Senior Prom, which was financed by the Juniors, was held at the Alliance Country Club on May 13, 1950. We elected as our officers: Herbert Linhart, president, Mary Kreitzer, vice president, Joanne Robinson, secretary, and John Stocker, treasurer. We were sorry to have Don Bennett, Mary Curren, Delores Mae Dobransky, Ray Douglas, Dwain Knepper, Dale Miller and George Thiel leave us this year, but were glad to welcome Evelyn Eakin from Canton South, Betty Gearin from Waynesburg, Ronald Price from Canton, Rich Snively, who re- turned from Florida, and Bob Coss. And now, still under the guidance of Mr. Keeler, we come to the happiest, yet most regretful year of all. We are happy and proud because we are seniors and have more privileges and excitement. We are somewhat unhappy and regretful because we know that it will be the last time for everything we do, and we now realize just how much fun we've had in the past twelve years that is gone from us forever except for the memories. We also know that we have an exciting life ahead of us. We lost five members this year. Betty Adler, Dolores Winkler, and Fred Jacob preferred matri- mony. Clayton Kehl and Richard Snively moved out of town, making our class enrollment 39. To lead us in our big year we elected as class officers: Ovidio Pugnale, presidentg Mary Kreitzer, vice-president, Ina Brunner, secretaryg and Herbert Linhart, treasurer. Our project this year is to raise money to publish the 1951 annual and finance our class trip. Selling candy and ice cream in the cafeteria at noontime, selling Christmas cards, sponsoring square dances with the Juniors, and presenting our class play, Seventeenth Summer which was an even greater success than last year's, were the chief means of reaching our goal. The anxious members of the Senior class left for their trip to Washington on May 7, 1951. Commence- ment exercises were held on May 24, 1951. We, the class of 51 owe many thanks to Mr. Keeler, our sponsor, for his leadership and patience, to Miss Taylor for supervising the 1951 annual, to Mr. Goddard for his guidance through our twelve years of school, and to all the teachers for their understanding. We are now going into the big wide world on our own. But no matter what we do nor where we go, we will always remember these wonderful days, shared by the class of 1951, at East Canton High School, forever.
