Football Queen One of the important events of the year was the crowning of the first foot- ball queen of our school. The ceremony, performed at the Osnaburg Town- ship vs. Canton Township football game, was witnessed by many people and proved to be very successful. The queen was chosen by the high school students on the basis of popular- ity. After voting, there were three days of waiting before the queen and her attendants were revealed. The suspense was trying, especially for the Sen- ior girls, the only ones who were eligible for the honorable position at stake. In an assembly, the queen and her attendants were called. to the front of the auditorium from the audience. The queen elected was Pauline Werley and her attendants were Gwen Shank, Ida Dreussi, Ienny Ceh and lane Phillips. On Saturday, October 25, after a parade through East Canton, Pauline was crowned by Don Poling, captain of the football squad. She then gave him the football which was used in the game. In the evening of the same day, a football party was held. The queen oc- cupied the seat of honor with her attendants surrounding her. This party ended the ceremony of Osnaburg Township's first football queen. -Dorothy Ryman
