Mrs. Baxter sponsored the group. Throughout the year, club members tutored high school and elementary school students on various subjects. They served as teacher aids at elementary schools in the community. During National Education Week, FTA put apples on teachers' desks and cakes in the faculty room. At Christmas FTA went caroling at a rest home. The occupants were presented with corsages and decora- tions made by the group. ln the spring, in conjunc- tion with Future Homemakers of America, Future Teachers of America held a breakfast for the faculty. Mrs. Rose Marie Spencer models a formal gown in the FHA Future Homemakers of America began with an installation of officers. The girls wore traditional white while they were installed before club members and their mothers in the Home Economics room. They participated in the Thunderbird Dinner by presenting their annual fashion show. Mrs. Renner, Mrs. Sleeper, and Mrs. Spencer, teachers from East, participated as models along with student members. Other girls worked behind the scenes. In the spring, the club prepared a breakfast for all of the school's teachers. The year ended for the Future Homemakers of America with a banquet for members and their mothers. FHA fashion show at the Thunderrbird Dinner. FHA officers of this year are Mrs. Judy Watson, sponsor, Alice Strickler president, Wendy Dill, secretary, and Ritha Brown, vice-president. O T h esp no n s Under the sponsorship of Mr. Wayne Mergler, Thespian Troupe No. 1584 promoted a better under- standing of drama. Membership was awarded to active Thespians who have compiled a sufficient number of drama points. The elected officers of Thespians were Jeannie Woodring, president: Debbie Bale, vice-president, Kathleen Ross, secretary: Vicki Dunnaway, treasurer, and Gloriette Thompson, clerk. Included in the program this year was the Readers' Theatre. This group was established for the purpose of helping members to develop dramatic reading skills.
