G-Sldent ,Jud The Y-Teen Club has had an active and interesting year, We began our activities with Freshman initiation and a membership contest. The contest closed with a party given by the team with the least members. A joint meeting with the high school boys was held in October. The program consisted of a skit and discussion on family problems, The annual Mother and Daughter banquet was held November 20th with the theme of The House I Live In. Mr. Joe Moore of Des Moines was the speaker. We celebrated Christmas by going caroling and returning to the school for a gift exchange and party, As Christmas service projects, we made favors for a nursing home and wreaths for each church in Earlham, Other activities include selling candy and apples at basketball games, building a float for the homecoming parade, participating in several National Y-Teen projects, sponsoring a high school dance, and sending delegates to Y-Teen summer conference. Z 3 ef C 1. jig A The 19 54- 55 Student Council repre sents every major high school organization. A campaign and election were held at the beginning of the year to I Smith elect a new president, who was Morris Smith. MOyr15 One of the first projects undertaken by the .dept Council was the Homecoming celebration. The 9112651 Homecoming dance was sponsored by the Council. The queen, Charlotte Bales, was presented a charm bracelet by our president. Four members of the Council attended the National Association of Student Councils at Iowa State campus in Ames. They reported back that our council was one of the more active Councils in Iowa. The Student Council was in charge of the local talent show which was held the last day before Christmas vacation. A collection was taken up and the proceeds went to Muscular Dystrophy Fund. The Council continued the chapel services. Ten ministers from our com- munity and a Catholic priest were invited. We also had a music cabinet made for the dance club records to be kept in. Compliments of SCHAKLE'S CLOTHING STORE and EARLHAM LUMBER CO.
