F. A. were added to the list of members. A campaign and election was held at the beginning of the year to elect a new president, who was Don Davis One of the first projects undertaken by the Council was the Second Annual Homecoming Dance. The Council presented the queen, Helen Algreen, with a charm bracelet. Four members of the Council attended the N. A.S. C. held at Ames and reports showed that our Student Council was more active than other Councils in Iowa. The Student Council was in charge of the first student produced assembly program which was held the last day before Christmas vacation. The Student Council continued the chapel services. Ten ministers from our community and a Catholic priest were invited. The most serious problem confronting the Student Council was the declining enthusiasm of students at pep rallies and games. To combat this a panel discussion on the subject was organized. From the Magazine Sale profits a public address system was pur- chased for the school. 30 FIRST ROW: D. Wright, C. Moore, H. Last fall along with our sponsor, Miss Cooney, three girls including Judy Branam attended the Southwest District Conference at Sidney where Judy was elected Secretary of the Southwest District Our annual Mother and Daughter Banquet was held in the latter part of November with the theme of Holidays Throughout the Year. Our Speaker was Mrs. Baul from Des Moines. At Christmas the group went caroling around the town and re- turned to the school house for an exchange of gifts. Some of the few money making projects were the selling of pennants during the football season and pencils relating the basket- ball schedule. Our club participated in the world wide project of scarfs around the world. The scarf representing our club went to Monrovia, Liberia. The Y-TEEN girls gladly took part in the benefit basketball game for the March of Dimes with a challenging game with the Y-TEEN Mothers. The School Dance in March was sponsored by the Y-TEENS with the theme pertaining to St. Patrick's Day. Compliments of ADKINS CASH FOOD STORE FRONT ROW: Mr. Bear, T. McDonald, M. Smith, V. Chase, W. Five mem- bers attended the National Convention at Davenport also. We had a local Parent and Son Banquet where Mr. Clyde Spry, Secretary of A riculture, was the speaker. We received 3rd, prize in the annual tractor rodeo, ant? also had good participation in the Madison and Dallas County fairs. We bought a F. F. A. Scho arship belt and let the boy with the best grades wear it for the lst. six weeks and then the next six weeks the boy with the best improvement got to wear it. We entered a float in the homecoming parade, sold garden seeds and Christmas cards to raise money, and operated a concession stand at the home football games.
