CLASS HISTCRY Ma ch l 23 mothers brought 23 happy ltttle chlldren to school to spend thetr f1rst day rn kxndergarten Of these 23 nme ol them are araduattng from Earlham H1qh School They are Harold Hester Mary Lou Allen Lola Leeper Franklyn Mapes Carolyn Sloan Mary Ellen Harrls Bonme Harms Bob Crelgh ton and Margaret Sue Schalkle The grade years pa sed bv slowly wtth many exclttng thr1lls and memorres Durrna these years we gatned 3 boys Herbert Iohnson Bob Nesbltt and D ck Wl eeldon Erghth arade v as a step to our educatron whlch we had walted for so long The county spell1ng contest was a blg event wtth Lola Leeper w1nn1ng and Mary Ellen Harms placxng fourth Then came qraduatmon from Iumor Hrgh Our motto was Onward Forever Back ward Nev r Blue and gold were class colors and a red rose was the class flower Nmeteen forty f1VG found us IH the h1gh school assembly as green freshles Mrna Iean DeVault Itm Remert Donna Compton and Charles Deets came xnto our rnfdst Everyone was a httle leary about 1n1t1at1on but we all managed to survtve Those were the good old days when so many names appeared on the Honor Roll On up the ladder of educatron and we became sophomores Now lt was our turn to do the 1n1t1at1ng Howard Hardm came to make h1S home here from Paul Idaho Servlng as walters and waxtresses gave us our f1rst look ln on the Iunlor Senlor Banquet Iolly tumors wtth more thr11ls and sprlls' Th1s year we gamed another gtrl Erma F1tzgerald Ftrst on the agenda came our class play Seventeen 1S Terr1f1c whtch was a blg success Sprmg grew nlgh and our thoughts turned to ldeas for the banquet we would gfve the semors The sett1ng centered around a Dutch theme lust thmk only two more rows to go and well be full pledged seniors here we are next to the wlndows and we are completlng our last days at good ol EHS Sh1rley Palmer came from Des Moines to ,o1n our class Hav1ng our graduatlon ptctures taken was a great thrrll It was more of a thrlll when they came' Work began on the annual and we grew buster by the day The t1me arr1ved when we chose our motto We Enter to Learn and Go Forth to Serve our colors blue and gold and our flower a yellow rose As soon as thxs was dectded we ordered our announcements Ttme passed and the btg event our play took place The name of tt was Glrl Shy None of us w1ll forget the many hours of practrce and the t1me spent dtpplng bulbs and settlng up the stage Early ln Aprll we attended the Iunxor Senror Banquet glven to us by the fun 1ors We w1sh to thank them for such a wonderful evenlng and for all the hard work they put forth to prepare 1t The school year drew to a close wtth so many happen1ngs to numerous to mentron Slap Day Class N1ght Baccalaureate and at last Commencement Now we leave the halls of Earlham Hlgh School to look back on the past and forward to the future Sponsored by LEO CONRAD ELECTRICIAN l Y- H . .
