For all of the seniors, both boys and girls, Homecoming is a very big event at Eagle Rock. From all of the senior girls in the Emendati class only five could be chosen as Queen and Princesses, However, first the senior boys voted to narrow the field to twenty-six candidates. . . From these twenty-six came. Homecoming At 7:30 on the evt-ning of Oct. 27, 1972, in the beautiful Pasadena Rose Bow 1, Eagle Rock High School held its homecoming game against Franklin. The crowd cheering the team on Was made up of students, drill team, band members, pep club, alumni, faculty and administrators. Presiding over the game as Queen was lovely Miss Patsy Wells, the fi e foot two, blue eyed Queen chosen by the Eagle Rock senior boys. Queen Patsy and her court arrived to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance in four new M. G. ' s. A beautiful procession for a beautiful court. ' 4, Also Presiding over the game were four lovely Princesses; First princess was Miss Barbara Waters; Second princess, Miss Lynda Gra;ham; Third princess. Miss Lyhn Goldhammer; and fourth princess. Miss Leslie Hanson. All four Princesses were escorted by their fathers to the field where they were crowned by four chosen football players. The court was then escorted by the Eagle Knights back to their seats where thev watched the game. ir, Ciai;; ' s Drama Dc- partmcnr was Noel Coward ' s plav, BLITHE SPIRl ' ] ' . But the frhost- 1 - lady, sldl liandsome, still mischie oiis, has a )i;hostly plot in mind: if she can iet Charles into an automobile accident and make a ghost of him life in the spirit world will be so much more fun for her. However, mistakes occur and the comedy gets fun- nier and funnier. C.JiST: Mary Lou Lamon is Elvira; Jean Gleason is Charles; Darcy Ferrer is Ruth; Kari Norgren is Madame .Arcati; John Rustin is Doctor Bradman; Kathy D ' Orazi is Mrs. Bradman; and the Student Director for the play is Tanya Goldin. spirit Activities happen in and out of school, and for the first time in school at Eagle Rock high we have a Reading Lab taught by Mrs. Petitto. The idea behind the lab is to pertrit students to work at their own individual speeds with help from the reading teachers and teaching assistants to improve their reading ability. Also, in school Mrs. Robinson ' s Modern Dance class allows the dancers to learn to express emotions and ideas through movement rather than through speech, as illustrated by the joyous leap of Karen Mitsunago. Another in school activity, new at Eagle Rock is the Hospital Occupations class of Mrs. Hodgens which gives students the opportunity to train for work in the fiel J of nursing and hospital staff. Students wanting to enter the field of medicine get actual experience working at Los Angeles hospitals. Getting away from in school work, students have fun. . . Pat Kelly enjoys mountain climbing and he especially enjoyed climbing the face of the Eagle Rock. During this summer and definitely away from school fun was the trip to Europe that several of the Eagle Rock students enjoyed with Mr. Born. This was a fun way to receive credits toward graduation. . . to see the Swiss Alps where Mr. Born perched atop one of the peaks and enjoyed the view; and the Louvre in Paris was more fun than credit for Judy Kemplc, Margo Bogdanow and Marjean Noakes. . ' nd finally, the most of in school and out of school fun must be sweater day. Sweater day when the graduating class gets to show off their new colors and emblems in addition to getting a great day away from school at Disneyland. li i| yi BS . The Bee Team won the league title, the V ' arsity finished second, the lunior Varsity was third, while the Cee ' s were fourth. The ' arsity team won their first seven league contests, but a poor finish cost them the title and they were defeated in the City Playoffs by the eventual City Champion, Crenshaw High. Highlights of the season included defeating Marshall twice, a second straight successful Christmas Tournament, and producing both the league ' s top scorer and rebounder. Coach Lomen ' s Varsity and J.V. teams possessed five all league players: Fernando Mejia, Mike Carter. Mickey Sleigh. Wesley Stone, and Jimmv Cisneros. Coach Rowland ' s Bee and Cce teams had Howard Doll, Hariey Wing, Eddie Woodworth, Doug Christ, Dave Hawkins, and Eddie Gerpe. SCORES Varsity J.V. Row 2: Phillip Clifford, Bruce Parsons, Mike Zois, Brian Lovik, Charles Escoto. The Varsity cross - country team split their season losing three and winning three, defeating Polytechnic, Bell, and Franklin High. All meets, including J. V. and 10th grade were run at Pierce College over a two mile course. The scoring is done just the opposite of most sports in that 1st place receives one point, 2nd place receives two points, 3rd place, three points, and so on. Thus, the winning team is the one which ends up with the lowest number of points. The newly formed Keyettes is the dream of all the hard-working girls who, for several semesters now, have been a part of the oldest service club on campus — the Key Club. From a girls ' association of the boys ' Key Club these young ladies have gone on to build a strong, independent group dedicated to serving the school and the Eagle Rock community. They have already sponsored Crazy Hat Day on campus, and they have marched to raise funds on campus and in the community for the March of Dimes. And now these industrious young ladies are looking for more jobs to tackle. In the mean-time their sponsor. Miss Hudson is working just as hard as the girls to make Keyettes a vital growing part of Eagle Rock.
