To the Sophomores and Freshmen, we will our treasured books and good times in Eagle High. (Study those books, they'll prove interesting!) To Eagle High School, we will a championship football and basketball team in what- ever year they happen to come along. (We wish you luck!) We, the Senior Class of 1954, hereby do sign our names witnessed by each other, to our Last Will and Testament as above written: -Shirley Chambers SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY It is September once more, and I wonder what new faces I'll see going by my win- dow on Monday morning. It's been forty years since 1 started my Senior year in Eagle High School, I think. I wonder if the rest of my classmates are thinking of the same thing wherever they are. Of course they're known world-wide as they've all had com- plete success. It's easy to look in the morning paper and see just what is happening to every one of them. Let's see now— Why, here is George Smith in the headlines as having drawn up a treaty which makes all the nations in the world friendly allies so there will be no more war. George will probably get the Nobel Prize for this fine work. Shirley Chambers, according to the society editor, is going to give a small $500, 000 party for close friends of hers and her husband's. Shirley, the leading socialite in New York, is America's foremost authority on etiquette, beauty and charm, and has several beauty schools throughout America and Europe which bear her name. Here is an article of great importance concerning Bob Stanley, the famous nuclear scientist. It seems that while Bob was working at his hobby of archaeology on his summer vacation, he discovered nearly all of the missing link between man and mon- keys. He was always trying to attain this goal. Jim Ross, wealthy cattle owner and oil man. now Secretary of Agriculture in the President's Cabinet says that for this year farmers can enjoy high prices on everything without any supports, and there will be no surplus foodstuffs. Jim’s program has put agriculture on the firm foundation which it has needed for so long. On the next page is a picture of a streamlined automobile which has a smash-proof glass body, features plastic tires which never wear out and a motor which is trouble- proof. This remarkable car is called a Cooperolet and is now the leading car in die low-priced field. Lebert Cooper was the inventor of this amazing machine and is president of its company. Lebert got his mechanical experience from die Jeep which he owned when he was a Senior. Following is a full page picture of a new skyscraper hotel which was dedicated to the interests of a well-rested American public yesterday. This ultra-modern structure is one of the many like it that Arnold Marks has added to his world-known chain of exquisite hotels and motor courts. Here is an editorial written by Ike Cowden, retired stock broker and president of the New York Stock Exchange. In it, Ike points out that the American people will have to save more and spend less to insure a continued prosperity in America. Ike always was an expert on money matters when he went to Eagle High School. Hmmmmm, what happened to Zanada Russell? Oh, yes, she's starring in a new fifty million dollar motion picture which will be released soon. She has already won five Academy Awards in her profitable career. Goodness, there goes the nine o'clock chime which means that in a few minutes the people will start coming in one by one to have their personalities examined by me, the foremost psychiatrist available. I always did wonder about the cause of personalities and why people have so much trouble with them. -----Bob Trezise Congratulations to Seniors of 1954 ROY and MAYME PEATE SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1942, the Class of 1954 enrolled in the first grade. Out of that first grade class only George Smith, Shirley Chambers and Zanada Russell remain. Our grade years were eventful ones and at last we reached the ultimate goal, eighth grade graduation. Those graduating from the eighth grade in the spring of 1950 were as follows: Beverly Matney, Myrle Cook, Judy Rule, Shirley Chambers, Zanada Russell, Georgia Harrison, Lebert Cooper. Ike Cowden, George Smith, Jim Ross, Bob Trezise and Bob Stanley. In the fall of 1950, our class, twelve strong, embarked on their high school careen. Entering as we did, like most Freshmen, our aim was to set the world on fire, not only with high academic achievements, but by participating in all extra-curricular activities as well. Yes, our destiny was set. In these endeavors we have not been without our share of success. Ike Cowden, George Smith and Jim Ross have all been active in ath- letics during their high school years; others who offered their bit to the success of Eagle teams have been Bob Stanley, Arnold Marks and Lebert Cooper. Many of the original girls in the class are gone. Only two remain, Shirley Cham- bers and Zanada Russell. Both have been very active in Chorus and Pep Club activities and have participated as cheerleaders. Shirley has been very active in band activities during her high school career. Bob Trezise, while not participating in athletics, has more than made a success of his musical ability. He has willingly given his time and talents to the success of the class and other school activities in this manner. As we became of age, we began to accept more and more responsibility. During our Junior year we presented the Junior Play, Up To Your Ears, followed by the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. When the Senior year came, we gave the Senior Play, The Million Heir, published the LUX AQUILAE, went on Sneak Day, and finally, the Seniors sponsored an All-School Party. We are now ready to take our places in the world of experience, confident, will- ing and optimistic. Those completing the long journey through school and being rewarded with their graduation diplomas are as follows: Jim Ross, George Smith, Shirley Chambers, Lebert Cooper, Bob Trezise, Zanada Russell, Ike Cowden, Arnold Marks and Bob Stanley. -—---—George Smith Congratulations To The Seniors of 1954 MR. and MRS. Front row: Buchholz, Marks, Cowden, J. Ross, Allen, Christiansen. Inset: Ike Cowden, Captain. Although the Eagles didn't have a very impressive season as far as the won-loss column is concerned, they showed promise in years to come. Only three Seniors will be lost to next year's team. There will be a host of Freshmen and Sophomore lettermen back next fall to further improve their record of the last year or so. Prospects are bright for future years. Second row: Christiansen, Marks, J. Ross, Harrison, McLain, Cowden, Buchholz, Allen, Lewis. B. Ross. Inset: Captain, George Smith. The Eagles have enjoyed a much improved year in basketball. The season has not been completed as this goes to print, but are currently tied for second in the League. Smith, Cowden, and Marks will be lost for this year's squad, but our ample supply of Freshmen will be around to take their place in the coming campaigns. Compliments of: GEORGE CARLOW, Eagle, Colorado First row: Ross, B., Buchholz. Cowden, McLain, Marks, Lewis, Allen. Second row: Matney, Fenno, Harrison, Ross, J., Schumacher, Christiansen. Third row: Coach Ralston, Watson, Cooper, Neumann. Bulkley, Leiber, Trezlse, Manager. Not present: George Smith. TRACK Track was resumed once more in 1953. The Eagles placed second in the county meet. Considering It was the first year of track for many, this was an exceptional showing. The prospects for 1954 are much brighter, with ten lettermen returning to pick up where they left off last year. It is possible that Eagle may join a conference in track this year. If this is possible we may have some boys that will qualify for the state meet. Compliments of: HARRISON'S CAFE-Phone 96 STUDENT COUNCIL Jim Ross-------..... Compliments of: WILSON RADIO AND APPLIANCE SENIOR PLAY THE MILLION HEIR This is the story of Johnny Burke, and Johnny's quite a guy. He’s very handsome and charming, but his wallet's flat as a pancake. Being in love with the gorgeous Carol doesn't help, when it's the things money can buy that Carol likes best. When Carol is lured away by George Drexel’s new convertible. Johnny's main desire is to run away and join the Foreign Legion. Just then Johnny receives word that he has inherited a million dollars from a distant relative of whom he has never heard. Johnny can only get his fortune if he can keep 8 cats in top condition for 1 month, and Johnny, being allergic to fur, spends many sleepless nights. Carol immediately rushes back to Johnny, but as soon as events go wrong and one of the cats is about to die, she shows her true colors and goes back to George. Agnes' patience and encouragement pays off, for Johnny makes her his No. 1 girl and a turn of events makes possible Johnny' fortune. Johnny gets the right girl plus a million-equals complete happiness for all concerned. Congratulations To The Class of 1954 CONTINENTAL OIL CO., Glen Chambers, Agent JUNIOR PLAY LIFE OF THE PARTY The Junior Class Play, given March 19, 1954, is an understanding study of modern youth and family. The Hughes family moves to Butterfield and in their choosing of friends there are some hilarious mistakes. The play revolves around a bang-up party in which all kinds of comical situations arise. All in all, life of the Party is one of the funniest plays ever to be put on in Eagle. The activities of the League are varied, including other than the classroom study of Latin, mythology and history, Roman weddings, plays, banquets and parties, and the showing of films of classical importance.
