The variety of activities, food, contests, and entertainment was endless. Perhaps the only problem came in finding enough time to enjoy everything offered. Though everyone who participated in Harvest Days was impor- tant, our most famous guest was The Chicken Man, who entertained at the alumni basketball game and brigh- tened the parade. mwzwz at if f :fa-4 -:iff at Bi z :-,-ik i ri . 1. 1 ..J' w .i' .v , ...aff -f- wann- ,Q we ' 'ML In ,, 1, A T' , D-Club Officers are Dennis Anderson and Brian Riccolo - co-presidents, Cindy Clavey - secretary, Bob Broeksmit - treasurer. Though all members of D-club have earned at least one letter, these peo- ple do more than rest on their laurels. They earned money running the pop machine and selling park- ing space durin Harvest Days. This ear tie D-club has helped, out with' the purchase of a neck machine and girls Basket- ball uniforms. A trip to the Bull's Game highlights this year's schedule. ,,7 Friday night's Jep rally was highlighted by a spiking contest, won by Mike Harty, the Powder Puff Football games, with the Iunior girls prevailing, the spirit stick competition, with the Seniors winning, and the Coronation of the 1980 Homecoming Queen. A beautiful Saturday morning and the Homecoming parade lwith Mr. Bob Anderson as Parade Marshalll, led to an even better afternoon, as the Trojans captured the Braidwood Comets in a huge 64-21 victory. The unforgettable Homecoming Dance's music was provide by CRYSTAL. The queen and her court were: Miss Chris Vining, escorted by Dana Smith, Miss Melanie Munger escorted by Steve Reece, Queen Coleen Cassidy escorted by Dennis Anderson, Miss Ellen Krischel escorted by Tom Anderson, Miss Pam Leonard escorted by Mike Tambling and Miss Vicki Clave escorted by Brian Riccolo. They sold pork chops at Harvest Days, fruit in the winter, and seed in the spring. The Dwight FFA was represented at the ISU Ag Day, the FFA National and State FFA Conventions, and a Leadership Convention at IIC. With all this activity. they still had time to start a hog farm, enjoy the FFA Banquet, host the Young Farmer's Pork Chop Lunch, contribute to the Winter Homecoming Activities, and provide a Petting Zoo. The school year 1980-81 is one the FFA will remember with justifiable pride. 63 fps., wwe Amt? In the midst of a rather boring winter, the Winter Homecoming burst into our lives with a flourish. Man activities - botli competitive and silly - paved the way for the Sweetheart Dance held on Feb. 14 this year. M Winter Homecoming The FHA planned various activities for the festive week: a cake raffle, Button Day, Lifesaver Pass, and Bobsey Twin Day. This ear's Iazz Band was not your average group. We had our share of pro- blems, liut we managed to pull it all together in time to defend our title at the Oaklawn Iazz Festival. Unfortunately, after holding 2nd place all day, we lost to the last band and came home with 3rd. lWhich is still a great accomplishment. We competed against 16 bands.l Then came Eastern. After performing magnificently in the morning, we settled down to more important things, lnamely our Eucre card tournament,l to await the final results. By 4 o'clock, we were holdin fast to 1st place, when to our shock, a band from Hoopston arrived, performedgeft, and beat us. So, we came in 2nd, but since Hoopston left, we got to play in the evening concert, which proved to be a fantastic experience. This year's band also had their share of good times. Who can forget how the front half of the bus, llead by the courageous Meester Swaaaar,l beat the life out of the back of the bus after an hour of, We don't wanna hear it, and This is a SCHOOL FUNCTION. We do not allow any foul language on this bus!! for was it foul functions on this bus? . . .J E 1 Concert Bond This year's concert band, like the other parts of the band program, improved a lot. The band received a first rating at the state band contest, and worked very hard to make this year a success. Quick thinking and quick reflexes are musts for the ten point toss up questions, which go to whichever team signals first. When a tossup question is answered cor- rectly, the team has an opportunity to earn points with bonus questions. Our winning Senior team consisted of Captain Bob Broeksmit, Dennis Andersen, Lori Call, ShanAnne Patchett, and Chris Delkus. Dedication All too often, people wait until someone is gone before they take the time to miss or honor an individual. We want to dedicate the 1981 Trojan Year- book to someone who is still with us, Bill Skridulis. A high degree of optimism dominates the personality of this man: he expects people to do their best, and he is usually surrounded by people who want to fulfill his expectations. Mr. Skridulis - a talented Art teacher, a former yearbook sponsor, still our year- book photographic advisor, a former class sponsor, wrestling coach, organizer of the art class trip to Colorado - and most importantly - a friend, thanks for your energy, talent, and time. g W it 5 s -' Sec. - .,L.
